Biomes & Hazards​

Survive diverse environments:

Biomes:

FAQ​

How do I join my server?​

In Icarus:

  1. Launch the game
  2. Click "Join Game"
  3. Click the "Server Browser" tab
  4. Search for your server name
  5. Click "Join"

What's the difference between Prospects and Open World?​

Prospects:

  • Time-limited missions (real-time hours/days)
  • Specific objectives and rewards
  • Lose everything if you don't evacuate
  • Earn exotic materials for workshop

Open World:

  • No time limit
  • Free exploration and building
  • Keep progress between sessions
  • No exotic material rewards

Can I play solo on a server?​

Yes! Icarus fully supports solo play:

  • Set max players to 1
  • Adjust difficulty for solo (lower enemy health)
  • Increase resource multipliers
  • Extend time limits on prospects

Or invite friends to join later.

How do I change prospect difficulty?​

In server settings:

  1. Select Prospect Difficulty:
    • Easy: More time, weaker enemies
    • Silver: Balanced gameplay
    • Hard: Less time, tougher enemies
    • Extreme: Hardcore survival
  2. Customize individual settings:
    • Enemy health/damage
    • Resource scarcity
    • Respawn limits
  3. Save and restart

Why did I lose all my items?​

In Prospect mode, you must evacuate before time runs out:

  1. Return to the dropship
  2. Board the ship
  3. Evacuate to orbit

If time expires while you're on the planet, you lose everything! Set a timer reminder.

How do I setup a PvP server?​

Icarus is designed for co-op, but PvP is possible:

  1. Enable PvP in server settings
  2. Set Friendly Fire to on
  3. Configure Death Penalties
  4. Create custom rules (admin enforced)

Note: PvP mechanics are limited compared to dedicated PvP games.

Can I use mods?​

Icarus has limited official mod support:

  • Check Icarus Modding Discord
  • Install client-side mods (some work)
  • Server-side mods are experimental

Most customization is via server settings.

What happens if the server crashes during a prospect?​

Your progress is auto-saved:

  • Last auto-save point restores (every 10 min)
  • Character inventory preserved
  • Base construction saved
  • May lose up to 10 minutes of progress

Daily backups provide additional safety.

How do I extend prospect time limits?​

As admin:

  1. Use console command: /SetProspectTime [hours]
  2. Or edit server config before starting
  3. Set to 0 for unlimited time

Perfect for relaxed exploration.

Why can't I build in certain areas?​

Building restrictions exist:

  • Too close to objectives - Move further away
  • Terrain limits - Find flat ground
  • Height restrictions - Can't build too high
  • Mission areas - Some zones blocked

Open World has fewer restrictions than Prospects.

How do I configure XP and resource rates?​

Adjust for faster/slower progression:

  • XP Multiplier: 0.5x (slow) to 5x (fast)
  • Harvest Multiplier: 0.5x (scarce) to 5x (abundant)
  • Crafting Speed: 0.5x (slow) to 5x (fast)

Higher rates = faster progression, easier survival.
