FAQ​

How do I join my server?​

In Factorio:

  1. Launch the game
  2. Click "Multiplayer"
  3. Click "Browse Public Games" or "Add Server"
  4. Search for your server name or enter IP:port
  5. Click "Connect"

Can I import my single-player factory?​

Yes! Upload your save:

  1. Find your save in %appdata%\Factorio\saves
  2. Upload the .zip file via server dashboard
  3. Select it as the active save
  4. Restart the server

How do I install mods?​

Two methods:

Via Mod Portal:

  1. Go to server dashboard
  2. Navigate to "Mods"
  3. Search the mod portal
  4. Click "Install" on desired mods
  5. Restart the server

Manual Upload:

  1. Download .zip from mods.factorio.com
  2. Upload via server dashboard
  3. Restart the server

Players will auto-download mods when joining.

What's the best server plan for my factory?​

Guidelines by factory size:

  • Bronze: Early game, <1000 SPM, 2-4 players
  • Silver: Mid game, 1000-5000 SPM, 4-8 players
  • Gold: Late game, 5000+ SPM, 8-16+ players

SPM = Science Packs per Minute

Can I run experimental builds?​

Yes! Change version in server settings:

  • Stable - Latest stable release (recommended)
  • Experimental - Latest features (may have bugs)
  • Legacy - Older versions for mod compatibility

Note: Clients must match server version to join.

How do I create a death world?​

Configure for maximum difficulty:

  1. Set enemy size to "very big"
  2. Set enemy frequency to "very high"
  3. Set evolution factor to max
  4. Enable pollution spreading
  5. Reduce resource richness to minimum
  6. Enable biter expansion

Death world is brutal - prepare defenses early!

Why is my server lagging?​

Common performance issues:

  • Complex logistics - Reduce active bots
  • Too many entities - Optimize belt usage
  • Massive factories - Upgrade to Gold plan
  • Mod conflicts - Disable problematic mods
  • UPS drops - Optimize circuit networks

For mega bases (10k+ SPM), use the Gold plan.

Can I set up PvP?​

Yes! Use PvP scenarios:

  1. Enable PvP mode in settings
  2. Configure teams (Red vs Blue)
  3. Set evolution handicaps
  4. Define win conditions

Or install PvP-focused mods like "Oarc Multiplayer Spawn".

How do I give admin privileges?​

  1. Get admin list from server dashboard
  2. Add Steam username or player name
  3. Restart the server
  4. Admins can use /c commands in-game

Common admin commands:

  • /c game.speed = 2 - Double game speed
  • /c game.player.force.research_all_technologies() - Unlock all research
  • /c game.player.insert{name="item-name", count=100} - Spawn items
